Samuel and Charity lived first in Falmouth on the shore near Pine Grove Cemetery, where their first child was born. "Charles A. Noyes, 85, formerly of Irving and Witt, died at 10:30 a.m., today, Monday, Nov. 5, at the LAura Charles Nursing home in Witt, following an extended illness.
The body is at the Bass funeral home in Hillsboro where services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, the Rev. Milton Easterling, pastor of the Irving Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in Irving cemetery.
Mr. Noyes was born near Butler on March 28, 1871 a son of the late Henry and Mary (Souvern) Noyes. Most of his life was spent in Montgomery county where he engaged in farming near Irving and for many years until his retirement some years ago.
Mr. Noyes and Eliza Ann Bolen were married at Paradise, February, 1894. Mrs. Noyes died April 1, 1941. For a few years Mr. and Mrs. Noyes farmed near Neoga but had lived in this county continuously since 1897.
They were survived by three daughters and a son, Bessie, wife of Cletus Hefley, of Schram City; Nellie, wife of Frank Johnson, Decatur; Anna, wife of K.H. Shellabarger, Decatur; and Charles Noyes, of Witt.
There are also 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Bertha Barker, preceded in death.
Mr. Noyes was a member of the Irving Christian church and of the Modern Woodmen of America."

Mr. Noyes went west with his cousin, Orrin H. Coe, (AABC) in the spring of 1836, and became one of the earliest settlers of Lake Geneva, Walworth County, Wisconsin, in which county and the adjoining county of McHenry, Illinois, he spent a very active and useful life. From 1850 to 1853 and from 1858 to 1872, he resided on the Pacific Coast. Mr. Noyes is described as genial, fond of companionship and very willing to make personal sacrifices to help others. Mr. Noyes served during the Civil War in the 8th regiment of Wisconsin Volunteers, and suffered from wounds received up to the time of his death. He was engaged in the Insurance business and was at one time Deputy Commissioner of Insurance of the state of Wisconsin. He was pastor of the North Parish Church (Unitarian) in North Andover from 13 Feb 1884 - 31 May 1904. He retired due to failing health. He died in 1916 in Norwich, New London Co, Connecticut. Published 1975, Lib Congress #75-39493, pp 190-204. His chapter was titled "Gentle Agent of Change" instituting many Unitarian reforms.

Never married. He was a clerk in Mr. Gilbert's store in Lebanon, Conn. previous to his coming to Hopkinton, Rhode Island to be clerk in the store of his uncle Jerimiah Thurston. He came to Hopkinton, R.I. when about twenty-one years of age, and continued in the employ of his uncle Jerimiah until his son, Benjamin Thurston, succeeded his father as proprietor of the "Thurston Store" he, subsequently forming a co-partnership with Charles Noyes.spouse: Babcock, Abby (*1819 - )
In 1851, Mr. Thurston retired and Mr. Noyes became sole owner and continued as such until his death in 1879. Mr. Noyes was commissioned Major of the Rhode Island Militia and thereafter was most commonly called "Major Noyes".
The First Baptist Church of Hopkinton was organized October 26, 1834. Charles Noyes was a constituent member. He loved the Church and was rarely absent from divine service. He was the first Treasurer of the Church and held said office continually until his death.
In 1874 the church needed extensive repairs. His gift for the same equaled all other contributions.
After his death this church received under his will a goodly legacy.
He was Town Treasurer of Hopkinton from 1849 to 1863.

Mr. Noyes was a man of excellent judgment, gentle in manner and always considerate of the happiness of others. He was unostentatious, frugal, scrupulously neat in all his habits, methodical and dispassionate, often called "The Peace Maker". He was indeed a courteous gentleman of the old school.
Charles Noyes never married. He died in Hopkinton, R.I. August 17, 1879 and was buried beside his sister Rhoda Ann Noyes in the cemetery at Wakefield, Rhode Island.
