On June 4, 1735 Henry Knight was appointed administrator for the estate of his brother, Samuel, who had died intestate in 1735. On Apr. 14, 1736 he purchased 66 acres of land on the south side of Fall Brook in Falmouth, Cumberland County, Maine. At the time of the purchase he was a Housewright. One source states that his will was dated April 20, 1773 but no copy has been located in the County Court House in Portland, Maine.spouse: Merrill, Priscilla (1703 - )

As a young man Mark Knight moved to Falmouth, Maine where he resided for many years and where all of his children were born. Later in life he moved to Otisfield, Cumberland County, Maine where he bought lot No. 72.spouse: Johnson, Mary (1736 - 1822)
On Dec. 31, 1776 Mark Knight was commissioned a First Lieutenant in the 3rd Company, 1st Cumberland County Regiment of the Mass. Militia. In Jan. 1777 Falmouth had 786 males over 16 years of age, including 64 Quakers, 12 negroes and one mulatto. To this time the Revolutionary War had been carried on by great sacrifice and suffering by the Maine communities. Many men needed to do the work in the frontier communities were in the army and to make matters worse there was only about half a crop in 1778 due to drouth. The prices of provisions at that time were an indication of the seriousness of the situation. In Falmouth in 1779 wood was $20 per cord, corn $35 per bushel, coffee $3 per pound, molasses $16 per gallon and sugar $3 per pound. 100 silver dollars were worth $1342 in paper.

Stephen Sr. or Jr. was a private from Fryeburg under Capt. George W. Smith in Col. Joseph Vose's regiment from 1 Aug. 1777 until 1 Aug. 1780 and was at the battle of Valley Forge in 1778.
